Is the back really glass, or is it hard plastic? A couple of the lower rate reviews say that it is not really glass.

It’s absolutely tempered glass. You can verify it’s glass by using a key to try and scratch the back. Plastic will scratch right away but the metal keys are made of isn’t hard enough to scratch tempered glass.
